D’Tigress head coach Rena Wakama has unveiled her 12-player roster for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, with Amy Okonkwo named captain. The team blends experienced campaigners with emerging talent and marks Nigeria’s third appearance at the tournament after outings in 2006 and 2018.
Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara are the only survivors from the 2018 squad that became the first African team to reach the Women’s World Cup quarter-finals. The pair will become the only Nigerian players to feature at two editions of the tournament.
D’Tigress arrived in Berlin on Wednesday for the event, which runs from 4 to 13 September. Drawn in Group B alongside Hungary, South Korea and France, they open against South Korea on Friday 5 September at the Berlin Arena, face Hungary the following day at the Max-Schmeling-Halle, and close the group stage against France on Monday 7 September.
