Accra has been selected to host the FIBA Africa Zone 3 U-16 Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball tournament from 15 to 20 November 2026. The Ghana Basketball Association is leading the hosting arrangements, with the games due to take place at the Multipurpose Hall of the Borteyman Sports Complex.

Participating teams are expected to arrive on 15 November, followed by a technical meeting on the morning of 16 November. Games will run through 20 November, and delegations are scheduled to depart on 21 November. Each team must include 12 players, three team officials and an accompanying referee, with age eligibility checks and compliance with FIBA rules part of the arrangements.

The tournament is being organised with FIBA Africa’s Development Commission and Competitions Department. Nigeria’s U-16 boys’ and girls’ teams have been invited, alongside teams from other participating federations.

The Zone 3 General Meeting and Congress will take place on 21 November at Barima Apartments and Hotels in Accra. FIBA Africa Zone 3 President Sam Ahmedu said the gathering would allow federations and stakeholders to discuss basketball administration, growth and future direction across the Zone. All eight member federations have been asked to send representatives.
