Two weeks after the conclusion of the Women's Afrobasket, the Cameroon national team are still confined to the Mont-Fébé hotel in Yaoundé, awaiting bonuses from the tournament they finished as runners-up behind Senegal. The final against the Teranga Lionesses was the only match the Cameroonian players lost during the competition.

Negotiations over payment have stalled. Afro-basket administrator Toko Ekambi, high-level sports director Oumarou Tado and the Fécabasket board initially proposed two million CFA francs per player. Sports minister Dr Pierre Ismaël Bidoung Mpkatt later raised the offer to five million CFA francs each, but both proposals were rejected.

Players say they have received threats from members of government. Late on Friday, they were told to vacate the hotel on the instruction of the sports minister, a request player Amina Njonkou said came from Ekambi. The players packed their bags but refused to leave without seeing a written notice, and remained in the hotel. Fécabasket's Samuel Tendong Nduku told Le Jour that the federation had no role in paying the bonuses.
