The Nigeria Basketball Federation has set September 28 as the arrival day for teams ahead of the Final 8 of the Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League, scheduled for the Indoor Sports Hall at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. The Final 8 opens on September 29 and runs through October 3, the date fixed for the final.
The hall became available after the postponement of the National Intermediate Games, which had been scheduled to begin on October 1. Eight teams have qualified: First Bank, Victoria Queens, Bayelsa Blue Whales and MFM from the Atlantic Conference, and AS SKY Queens, Titans, Air Warriors and Nigeria Customs from the Savannah Conference. An NBBF Congress is set for September 25.
MFM and Customs enter the Final 8 as favourites after winning all their games across both phases in their respective conferences. MFM will bid to reclaim the title they lost to Dolphins last year, while Customs chase a second crown. First Bank, record nine-time champions, are hunting a first title since 2018, and Air Warriors target a return to the summit for the first time since 2019.
