Ugo Udezue, the new vice president of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, has thanked delegates to the Elective NBBF Congress and Nigerian basketball supporters for backing his election. He also congratulated the new NBBF President, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, pledging his support to build on the work of previous administrations.

Udezue emerged unopposed at the election held in Abuja on Thursday, October 15, 2026. He said the new board is committed to serving all six zones and the FCT equally for grassroots and infrastructural development.

"I am deeply grateful to the delegates of the Elective Congress for the trust you placed in me today. This victory belongs to every state association, coach, player and fan who believes Nigerian basketball can stand among the very best in the world," Udezue said in a statement.

He added: "I warmly congratulate Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi on his election as President. I look forward to working closely with him and the new Board to build on the foundations laid by those who served before us." Udezue also thanked the South East and every zone that supported him, and extended respect to fellow candidates, urging them to move forward together.

Udezue served as Chairman of the Sponsorship and Marketing Committee in the previous board led by Musa Kida.
