Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Canons clinched a record-extending ninth National Basketball League title on Sunday night, beating the JT Lady Jaguars 63-49 at the Lugogo Indoor Arena to take the finals 4-1. Head coach Nicholas Natuhereza added another trophy to his tenure with another defensive display from his team.
Forward Martinah Anyango closed the series with a game-high 15 points, 11 rebounds and two assists, earning the 2026 NBL Women's Most Valuable Player award. The Lady Jaguars started fast behind Bridget Aber, Brenda Kayaga, Maimuna Nabbosa and Sandra Wangeshi, leading 15-12 after the first quarter and edging 24-23 at halftime.
UCU pulled ahead in the third quarter, with Zoe Atek and Anyango draining two three-pointers each and Shillah Lamunu adding another to make it 46-42. The Lady Canons then shut down JT in the fourth, holding the Jaguars to seven points and closing out the win behind Namukwaya, Lamunu, Anyango, Namale and Atek. Lamunu and Atek finished with 12 points each, Atek also dishing six assists, as UCU dominated the boards 59-47 and blocked eight shots. KCCA Leopards' Tracy Namugosa was named regular-season MVP after guiding her team to third place.
