South Sudan recorded an 85-60 victory over Mali in Group A of the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 Qualifiers on Saturday, their second win in two appearances. Kouat Noi, who plays for the Sydney Kings, featured as Luol Deng’s South Sudan side continued their successful run.
Atem Kuany Kuany led the scorers with 17 points, while Dhieu Deing added 13 and Junior Madut contributed 12. The victory followed South Sudan’s opening win over Morocco and left the Bright Stars at 2-0 in the group.
Tamandjan Konate and Fousseyni Drame were Mali’s only double-digit scorers, finishing with 15 and 10 points respectively. South Sudan’s margin of victory was their second-largest in African basketball since beating DR Congo 101-58 on 27 August 2022.
The result extended South Sudan’s winning streak across African basketball to seven games, a run dating back to August 2022. Their next qualifier is against the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Monday.
