Senegal will not begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign at home as originally scheduled. The Mozambican Football Federation has announced that the match against Senegal will take place at the Zimpeto National Stadium in Maputo instead of in Dakar.
The fixture had been due to be played on 25 September, with Senegal hosting at either the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio or the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium. The Mozambican federation's official statement confirmed the change of venue, though the date and kick-off time remain unchanged.
The decision comes as a surprise given that Senegal were scheduled to play at home on the opening day of the qualifiers. The Lions of Teranga will now travel to Mozambique for their first match in the competition.
The Senegalese Football Federation has not yet publicly responded to the relocation announced by their Mozambican counterparts.
