Senegal’s U15 Lionceaux lost 3-0 to Cameroon in their opening match at the FIBA U15 World Cup and festival in Azerbaijan. Ousmane Diop’s side missed an ideal start to the tournament after falling behind in the 17th minute.

Cameroon opened the scoring with a powerful shot that entered the top corner of Senegal goalkeeper Seydina Ousmane Baldé’s net. Two minutes before half-time, the Lionceaux conceded a second goal when Cameroon capitalised on a poorly cleared corner.

Rawane Wade’s teammates attempted to respond after the interval but lacked efficiency in the final action. They created further openings without converting them, and Randy Ngome scored Cameroon’s third goal to put the result beyond reach.

The defeat leaves Senegal needing a rapid recovery before its next fixture against Grenada at 05:00 on Sunday 25 October.
