Senegal will host the men's Africa Wheelchair Basketball Cup from 19 to 29 August 2027 in Dakar. The tournament will serve as the only qualifying event for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
The hosts finished third at AfroParabasket Luanda 2026 in Angola. Senegal reached the semi-finals, where they lost 47-55 to Morocco, before beating Algeria 51-48 in the third-place match to claim the bronze medal.
Saliou Diène and his team-mates will now have the opportunity to play the next edition on home soil as they target a place at the Paralympics.
The competition is expected to bring together Africa's top wheelchair basketball nations, with Dakar's selection as host reinforcing Senegal's growing role in the development of para-sport on the continent.
