Four teams have confirmed their participation in the third edition of the Rwanda Basketball Cup, scheduled to tip off on October 9 and run until October 18, the Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA) has announced. The field will feature Rwanda's top-flight clubs: APR BBC, REG BBC, defending champions RSSB Tigers and UGB.
Tigers are the reigning title-holders after defeating REG 83-77 in the 2025 final. They went on to represent Rwanda at the Basketball Africa League qualifying tournament, whose finals were held in Kigali, after then-national league champions APR withdrew from the continental competition.
FERWABA introduced the Rwanda Cup in 2024, with APR BBC winning the inaugural men's title. According to the federation, the competition was created to expand the country's basketball calendar, give players more development opportunities and raise overall performance levels.
Cup winners and national league champions will meet in the Rwanda Super Cup, a single-game showdown before the new season, with the result decided after 40 minutes of play across four quarters.
