RFI's Mondial Sports programme will return to the basketball floor this Sunday with a review of the 2026 Women's Basketball World Cup held in Berlin. The show will spotlight Mali's Aigles and France's Bleues, two teams that shaped the tournament in contrasting fashion.
Mali, appearing at their third World Cup, registered a standout 82-73 win over Spain in the group stage but finished 13th after a first-round exit. Assistant coach Diana Gandega will join the broadcast to share her account of the Malian campaign from Berlin.
France reached the World Cup final for the first time in their history, leading the United States by 14 points before falling 97-79. The defeat mirrored the outcome of the Paris Olympic final and ended the tournament run of Jean-Aimé Toupane's side, who will be represented on the programme by former internationals Isabelle Yacoubou and Sarah Michel.
Ivorian basketball legend Malick Daho will also appear as a consultant. The audio segment will be available on the RFI page from Sunday 20 September at 19:05.
