Four teams will converge on Port Harcourt for the 2026 Nigeria Premier Basketball League Final Four, scheduled for September 20 to 22 at the Basketball Stadium on Niger Street, Old Port Harcourt Township. Rivers Hoopers, Maktown Flyers, Gboko City Chiefs and Aso Sky Hawks will compete across three days for the league title and Nigeria’s spot in the 2027 Basketball Africa League.
Rivers Hoopers enter as top seeds after a 6-1 Final Eight run, finishing ahead of Maktown Flyers on points difference with both clubs posting identical records. Gboko City Chiefs and Aso Sky Hawks also advanced, each finishing the Final Eight with five wins and two defeats. The event was rescheduled due to a Rivers State Government engagement, though the venue is unchanged.
The competition will use a round-robin format rather than a knockout, with each team facing the other three once. The side with the best overall record will be crowned 2026 NPBL champions. A technical meeting is set for September 19, and teams are expected to depart on September 23.
Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Sports, Comrade Emma Ndah, said the state government had made the necessary arrangements for teams and fans. The games will be streamed live on the Afiemoonthespot YouTube channel.
