The Electoral Committee of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has cleared former D'Tigers captain Olumide Oyedeji, ex-player Ugboaja Ejike and Energy Commission of Nigeria Director General Abdullahi Mustapha to contest the federation's presidential election scheduled for October 15 in Abuja.

Former D'Tigers head coach Ayo Bakare did not secure clearance after submitting his nomination forms late, while another presidential hopeful, Mark Igoche, was given until Monday to present his tax clearance or face disqualification.

Speaking after the screening, Electoral Committee chairman Dr Lanre Glover said the panel had reviewed all candidates and was prepared to deliver a transparent process in Abuja.

Ugo Udezue is the sole candidate for the vice president role. The committee also clarified that the affiliate members' election falls to the NBBF, while the international representative position must be confirmed by FIBA.

Zonal representatives cleared include Osaze Omorodion and Fubara Fibika (South-South), Yusuf Surajo and Shaibu Mohammed (North West), Babatunde Adesanya and Babatunde Ogunade (South West), Abubakar Abba Kaka (North East), Abdullahi Mustapha (North Central) and Ugo Udezue (South East).
