The Nigeria Basketball Federation Electoral Committee has cleared four candidates for the presidential position ahead of the October 15 elective congress in Abuja. Former D'Tigers captain Olumide Oyedeji, Igoche Mark, Mustapha Abdullahi and former D'Tigers star Ejike Ugboaja all passed screening.
Ayo Bakare was disqualified after his nomination forms arrived at 2:12pm on October 8, twelve minutes after the 2pm deadline. The cleared candidates include former D'Tigers players and a government official, bringing together a mix of playing and administrative experience.
The committee has set participation conditions, including a requirement for Igoche Mark to submit his tax clearance by Monday or face disqualification. The federation must decide on its affiliate members by October 14, and the international representative must present a letter from FIBA confirming their position. The congress will begin at 9am on October 15 in Abuja, after the final list of qualified candidates is published.
