NBA Africa expanded its presence in Angola with a two-day programme in Cabinda held in partnership with Tidewater, the organisation's first activation in the province. The events focused on youth development, leadership training and basketball growth in the region.
The opening day featured a Jr. NBA Coaches Clinic attended by more than 50 coaches from across Cabinda. Sessions covered basketball fundamentals, skill development and the Jr. NBA coaching methodology, blending classroom learning with on-court practical demonstrations.
On the second day, NBA Africa and Tidewater hosted a Jr. NBA Leadership Workshop for 150 young leaders. The programme centred on leading oneself and leading others, and included a panel discussion with Tidewater executives Fadi Diab, Vice President of Global Operations; Melissa Mong, Deputy General Counsel, Corporate and Sustainability; and Yuri Augusto, Commercial Manager, West Africa. The panelists shared their leadership journeys and explored STEM career opportunities.
Participants later took part in breakout sessions built around Tidewater's Seven Cs before moving to the court for a skills clinic covering dribbling, footwork, passing, shooting and spacing. The day ended with a teamwork and communication activity, combining leadership development and basketball instruction in a single programme.
