NBA Africa and Africell hosted a Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA clinic at the Osvaldo Serra Van-Dúnem Pavilion in Huambo, Angola, marking the first time Jr. NBA programming has reached the city. The session drew 250 boys and girls ages 18 and under for a day of NBA Fit activities, basketball instruction, skill work and life skills education.
Young participants received coaching on basketball fundamentals including shooting, dribbling, passing and defence, alongside off-court sessions on leadership, teamwork and discipline. The Huambo stop is part of a wider 2026 calendar of Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA events across Angola and other Africell operating markets.
Huambo joins a growing list of Angolan communities reached through the Africell and NBA Africa collaboration, which organisers say reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to basketball development nationwide.
Launched in 2022, the partnership between NBA Africa and Africell has reached thousands of young Angolans through Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA tournaments, clinics and court development initiatives. The collaboration has recently expanded into the Democratic Republic of Congo, The Gambia and Sierra Leone.
