Kenya Ports Authority women's basketball coach Samuel Ocholla has shifted his team's focus to the FIBA Africa Zone Five Championship, which tips off on October 17 in Tanzania. The Dockers completed the National Women's Basketball Premier League regular season unbeaten and have also booked a place in the league final against Equity Hawks.

Ocholla said only minor adjustments are needed to the squad's preparations as new players are integrated. "Our focus shifts to Zone Five. The way we prepared for the league final, we only need to make a few adjustments while incorporating the new players who have joined the team," he said. KPA are training at Makande Gymnasium in Mombasa ahead of the regional event.

The coach is aiming for a higher finish than last season as KPA seek qualification for the Women’s Basketball League Africa, scheduled for later in the year. "I believe that with the manpower and personnel we have, coupled with the good run we have had, we are going to carry the day at Zone Five," Ocholla added.

The Zone Five Championship offers KPA a path back to the continental stage on the back of their domestic form.
