APR defeated Kenya Ports Authority 80-64 to reach the Women’s Basketball League Africa Zone Five final and leave KPA heading for the third-place playoff. The Rwandan side won every quarter, establishing a 52-45 half-time lead before closing out the contest with an 11-4 run.
APR were driven by centre Jessica Jackson, forward Yacine Diop and forward Eleuteria Lhavanguane, who combined for 53 points. KPA small forward Victoria Reynolds top-scored the match with 25 points, but the Kenyan side were unable to overturn APR’s advantage.
KPA will face the loser of the other semi-final between Rwanda’s REG and Tanzania’s Fox Divas on Saturday. Equity Hawks, Kenya’s second representative, lost 80-67 to Burundi’s Dynamo in the fifth-to-eighth-place playoffs.
Equity Hawks face Tanzania’s Vijana Queens in the seventh-place playoff, while Dynamo meet fellow Burundian side Les Hippos in a battle for fifth place.
