Defending champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) face Equity Hawks on Saturday, 10 October as the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's premier league final playoff tips off. KPA, coached by Samuel Ocholla, swept TH3 Swish 3-0 in the semifinals and want to set the tone with an away win against an Equity side determined to reclaim the title they last lifted in 2024.

Hawks booked their place in the final with an 82-64 victory over Stanbic Aces in a winner-takes-all Game Five at Nyayo Stadium on Thursday, 8 October, taking the series 3-2. Captain Betty Kananu delivered 27 points and nine rebounds. Coach Ben Oluoch, speaking to reporters, said the squad was assembled specifically to fight for a final berth after losing in the semis last season.

The regular season belonged to the Dockers, who won the first leg 65-41 before routing the bankers 97-53 in the return fixture. The match-up revives memories of the 2024 final playoff, where Hawks took the first two legs in Nairobi before losing back-to-back at Makande. Hawks then won the decisive fifth game 76-74 in overtime, with the lead changing 11 times and seven ties, to clinch the championship 3-2.

KPA will be looking to avoid another collapse. Both sides have a short turnaround before Game Two.
