Kenya Ports Authority women's basketball coach Samuel Ocholla has voiced frustration after the National Women's Basketball Premier League finals were postponed indefinitely, throwing his side's preparations for the regional title defence into uncertainty. The best-of-five series against Equity Hawks had been scheduled to tip off on Saturday with Game Two set for Sunday.
"The girls were ready to play, and we had very good preparations. We were well prepared and wanted to finish the league, put it behind us, and then focus on preparing for Zone Five. However, some things are usually beyond our control," Ocholla said.
Defending champions KPA reached the final by sweeping TH3 Swish 3-0 in their semifinal, while Equity Hawks overcame Stanbic Aces 3-2 to set up the title clash. The Dockers are chasing back-to-back crowns, while Equity Hawks hope to reclaim the league title.
The postponement complicates KPA's build-up in Mombasa for the Zone Five Club Basketball Championship, which begins in Tanzania on October 17. Ocholla must now balance domestic and regional commitments while awaiting a new tip-off date.
