Senegalese wheelchair basketball international Issa Dia has signed a parasport contract with Greek Division 1 club A.O. Kabaa, the latest step in the international rise of Senegal's wheelchair basketball scene. The move confirms the reputation of a player long considered one of the country's most determined competitors.
Dia, a key member of the Senegal national team, will begin his Greek top-flight campaign after completing the transfer. He previously played for Dakar Plateau before spending last season on loan at Talibou Dabo, where his performances stood out at domestic level. Regular showings in national competitions and continental tournaments with Senegal convinced European recruiters to pursue him.
The signing is being framed in Senegal as more than a personal milestone, highlighting the growing visibility of Senegalese paralympic athletes on the European stage. With his physical impact, court vision and tactical maturity, Dia now joins one of the most demanding wheelchair basketball championships in Europe as he opens the next chapter of his career.
