Harare Kings are seeking between US$35,000 and US$50,000 to fund their participation in the Road to BAL 2027 qualifiers, with the team yet to secure enough backing for its continental campaign. The Zimbabwean club won the Harare Basketball Association Super 6 League and the Basketball Union of Zimbabwe National League in its breakthrough 2025/2026 season, earning the right to represent the country.

The Kings confirmed their domestic title with an 82–40 victory over JBC in the national final. They are scheduled to play in Group E of the qualifiers in Lusaka, Zambia, from October 27 to 31, 2026, against Munali Suns of Zambia, Bravehearts of Malawi, Dolphins of Botswana, Ferroviario da Beira of Mozambique and Soweto Panthers of South Africa. The top two teams will advance to the Elite 16 for places in the 2027 BAL season.

Coach Tafara Chirambira said the required funds would cover travel, accommodation, tournament registration, player allowances, medical support and high-performance equipment. Harare Kings are engaging potential sponsors, but securing the funding has proved difficult.

The article calls on Zimbabwe’s government, the responsible ministry, the Sports and Recreation Commission and basketball authorities to help mobilise support. Banks, telecommunications companies, mining houses, retailers and other businesses are also urged to engage the club and help close the funding gap before the campaign begins.
