Giants of Africa has opened three Built Within basketball courts in Rwanda, giving the non-profit organisation a presence in all five provinces. The courts were opened in Nyagatare, Eastern Province; Musanze, Northern Province; and Nyanza, Southern Province, on consecutive days in partnership with Rwanda’s Ministry of Sports.
Together, the new sites are expected to serve more than 9,500 students, young people and community members. Nyagatare’s court is expected to reach over 600 users, while the court at GS Marie Reine Rwaza, a Catholic boarding school with 900 pupils, is based in Musanze. Nyanza’s Igihozo St Peter court has the largest catchment, with access for 8,000 people from the school and neighbouring schools.
The openings raise Giants of Africa’s total to 53 courts across 16 African nations, past the halfway point of its 100-court target. Its 50th court was unveiled at King’s College in Lagos in May 2026.
The Nyanza opening is the organisation’s 14th court in Rwanda, following earlier projects in Rusizi, Western Province, and Kigali. Giants of Africa credited the Ministry of Sports and the Rwanda Basketball Federation as partners.
