FIBA has formally recognised Mustapha Abdullahi as president of the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), according to Daily Trust. The recognition ends a leadership dispute that had cast a shadow over the running of basketball in Africa's most populous nation.

The move aligns Nigeria's basketball governance with the international federation's accepted authority, clearing the way for Abdullahi's board to represent the country in FIBA-sanctioned competitions and at continental gatherings. It also restores Nigeria's standing within the global basketball community after a period of administrative uncertainty.

Abdullahi now assumes responsibility for leading the federation's programmes, from grassroots development to the senior national teams that compete in AfroBasket and FIBA World Cup qualifying windows. His presidency will be judged on how effectively Nigerian players and clubs are supported on the continental stage.

Daily Trust reported the development, framing it as a moment of closure for the federation.
