FIBA Africa has opened its under-16 basketball camp at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, the second time the city has hosted the annual training event after its debut in 2024. The camp runs in two sessions, with the girls from 15 to 18 October and the boys from 21 to 24 October.
Forty young players from twenty African countries will take part, joined by fifteen Ivorian basketballers. Sessions on court and in the gymnasium will focus on individual skills and team play, led by coaches from across the continent alongside experts from FIBA and the NBA.
Organisers said the programme also addresses personal development, with solidarity and community spirit central to the values promoted by FIBA Africa. For standout participants, the camp can open a path to Basketball Without Borders, FIBA's international development programme.
The Abidjan camp is part of a continued effort to broaden the talent pool across the continent through structured training and exposure to high-level coaching.
