Nigeria's D'Tigress will launch their FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup campaign on 4 September in Berlin, Germany, starting with a Group Phase clash against Korea before facing Hungary the next day and world number two France on 7 September.
Ranked tenth in the world, the reigning African champions arrive in Berlin on the back of a strong run that included a first-ever quarter-final appearance by an African basketball team, male or female, at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Nigeria Basketball Federation president Ahmadu Musa Kida said the team is ready for the challenge. "This team is well prepared and motivated to do the nation proud. I believe the preparation programmes and games they played have put them in good stead to perform well," Kida said.
The Rena Wakama-coached side prepared with a camp in Illinois, USA, followed by international friendlies against China in Haikou and matches in Spain against Spain, Belgium and Puerto Rico in Tenerife and Zaragoza.
