Nigeria’s D’Tigress have confirmed their final 12-player squad for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany, with head coach Rena Wakama handing the captaincy to Amy Okonkwo. The reigning African champions are preparing for their third appearance at the global tournament after competing in 2006 and 2018.
Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara are the only squad members who featured at the 2018 World Cup. Both players are set to become the first Nigerians to appear at two editions of the competition. The team arrived in Berlin on Wednesday ahead of the event, which runs from September 4 to 13.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside Hungary, the Republic of Korea and France. D’Tigress open their campaign against Korea at the Berlin Arena on Friday, September 4, face Hungary at Max-Schmeling-Halle the next day, then complete group play against France in Berlin on September 7.
The squad also includes Jordan Obi, Elizabeth Balogun, Murjanatu Musa, Pallas Kunaiyi, Rita Igbokwe, Victoria Macaulay, Shay Ijiwoye, Nicole Enabosi and Grace Efosa.
