Doudou Ndoye, a player for AS Douanes Basket, has died at Dakar's Hôpital Principal on Thursday, October 8, 2026, after weeks in a coma. The 27-year-old had been hospitalised since a serious road accident on the night of Sunday, September 20, 2026, which also claimed the lives of two other basketball players.
Mouhamed Diouf, known as "MD" of AS Ville de Dakar, and Momar Marico of US Gorée died in the same accident. Ndoye had fought for his life since being admitted, but did not recover.
The Senegalese basketball community has been left to absorb a third loss from the crash, with tributes pouring in for a player whose career at AS Douanes had made him a familiar figure in domestic competition. Condolences have been extended to his family, teammates and friends across the sport.
