Cameroon have announced a 24-player shortlist for the AfroCAN 2027 Zone IV qualifiers, scheduled for October 10-13 at the Japoma gymnasium in Douala. National coach François Enyegue will use the pre-selection camp to shape the squad that will represent the country at home against regional rivals.
The group leans heavily on the domestic championship, with clubs Firebirds, BEAC, ALPH, FAP and MC Noah providing several players. The technical staff also called up Dylan Ngompe of South Africa's Jo'burg Giants, along with Ousman Njoya, Paul Mouandjo, Kevin Nyemeck and Jason Youmbi, who play outside Cameroon. The selection reflects the AfroCAN's identity as a competition primarily reserved for players based on the continent.
Cameroon will compete in a zone featuring Gabon, the Central African Republic, Chad, the Republic of Congo and Equatorial Guinea. The top teams from the qualifiers will advance to the AfroCAN 2027 final round, set for July 2-11, 2027 in Kigali, Rwanda. Morocco are the defending champions after winning the 2023 edition in Angola. Cameroon, who finished 11th three years ago, will look to climb the standings in this third edition of the tournament.
