Bravehearts Basketball Club is aiming for success on both fronts at the Bravehearts International Basketball Challenge, which runs from 3 to 5 September 2026 at ABC Blue and Malcon Gym in Lilongwe. Teams from Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Mozambique and South Africa will compete over the tournament, with the winner receiving US$5,000.
The club's women's team enters as defending champions, while the men's side is targeting a first title after finishing as runners-up last year. Bravehearts President Daud Hussein said preparations have gone well, with both squads playing a series of friendly matches at home and abroad in the build-up.
Hussein added that FIBA-qualified international officials have been brought in to handle the competition and predicted a higher standard of basketball this year given the growing number of participating nations. He said hosting teams from across the continent would give local players a chance to learn from different playing styles.
