Nairobi City Thunder power forward Bramwel Muchina has risen through Kenyan basketball after taking up the sport relatively late. The 6 ft 8 in forward began playing in his second year of high school after his coach encouraged him to try because of his height.
Muchina’s path has included a spell in Tanzania, time with Kenya Ports Authority and his eventual move to Nairobi City Thunder. He said his time in Tanzania helped him develop as a professional and earned a first call-up for the Kenya Morans.
His international debut came at the 2023 FIBA AfroCan Championships in Luanda, Angola. Muchina described the appearance as a proud achievement and said playing for Kenya broadened his understanding of the game.
The forward also wants his journey to have an impact beyond basketball. He hopes to give back to the community and help grow basketball in Kenya while pursuing a career that provides him with a secure path.
