Rwanda's APR WBC have made a strong start to the Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) Zone 5 qualifiers in Kibaha, Tanzania, taking early control of Group B with two consecutive victories.
The Rwandan military side opened their campaign on Sunday against Kenya's Equity Hawks, with Senegal captain Yacine Diop finishing on 15 points alongside team-mates Olivette Tumukunde (17 points) and Eleuteria Lhavanguane (15 points) in an authoritative win.
Less than 24 hours later, APR returned to face Tanzania's Vijana Queens. Diop added 12 points as the Rwandans maintained their intensity and quickly subdued their opponents, extending their perfect record.
With two wins from two outings, APR WBC sit comfortably at the top of Group B and have taken a major step towards qualifying for the knockout stage of the continental competition.
