Gabon secured its place at the AfroCan 2027 finals with two wins from two in the Zone IV qualifiers. The Panthers scored 169 points and conceded 138 for a positive differential of 31, beating Cameroon 83-80 and the Republic of Congo 86-58.

Gabon's qualification was built on a second-half comeback against host Cameroon, where the Panthers overturned an eleven-point half-time deficit to win by three. They controlled the second match against Congo more comfortably. Gabon joins Rwanda, Morocco, Côte d'Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo, all of whom qualified through their 2023 semi-final appearances. The final tournament is scheduled for 2 to 11 July 2027 in Kigali.

Cameroon finished second in the zone after beating the Republic of Congo 86-63 at the Japoma multisports complex. The three-point loss to Gabon proved decisive and the Lions missed out on the only qualification slot available.

Cameroon's possible presence in Kigali now depends on additional qualification arrangements set by the organisers, with a wild card still to be confirmed. The Republic of Congo, returning to international competition after a nine-year absence linked to a 2017 FIBA Africa sanction, finished the campaign without a win, scoring 121 points and conceding 172 across its two matches.
