Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, founder of DAM Foundation and a candidate in the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) presidential election, has assured basketball stakeholders that the country's domestic league will operate smoothly under his leadership. The election is scheduled for October 15 in Abuja.
Abdullahi outlined a reform agenda built on integrity, transparency and a clearly defined roadmap, with administrative decisions guided by set criteria rather than personal interests. "We are not going to sign contracts at night. We are going to sign during the day. We will make sure the media is there. The whole world is going to see what we do," he said.
He proposed a development plan with specific targets, timelines and performance indicators, supported by an implementation team to track progress. Abdullahi also stressed the need to align the league's ambitions with available funding and resources.
The aspirant identified disunity among stakeholders as a major obstacle, warning that persistent disagreements could undermine efforts to build a stable domestic competition.
