LeBron James enjoyed a dream home debut as the Philadelphia 76ers recovered from a 29-point deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-106. Philadelphia trailed 69-45 at half-time before moving ahead through 15 unanswered points with just under seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Cavaliers narrowed the margin to 106-102, but the 76ers held firm after outscoring them 69-37 after the break. The victory is the largest comeback win of James’s 24-season career and the largest comeback by Philadelphia in the play-by-play era, which began in 1996-97.
James recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals. Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 32 points, Joel Embiid added 24 and Jaylen Brown scored 21, including 17 after half-time. James said: “We got the boos. That was amazing and we deserved it. And then we got the cheers and almost blew the roof off this thing, in a good way. It was a hell of a night.”
