Four winners of FIBA’s She Calls Game 2026 initiative have spent the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin gaining hands-on experience in sports media, after their selection was announced in April.

Sindiswa Mabunda worked as a writer for the FIBA editorial team, producing content for the event website. Maia Williamson served as a commentator, Lara Zugck produced video content, and Katarina Puskasova worked as a photographer. The four winners come from New Zealand, South Africa, Germany and Slovakia.

"This is a life-changing experience," Mabunda said. Williamson, reflecting on the experience, advised aspiring sports media professionals: "Do your thing."

The 2026 edition builds on a programme first launched at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022 and reflects FIBA’s strategic priority of Women in Basketball. Four roles were available this year, with the federation aiming to create more opportunities for aspiring women in sports media worldwide.

Content produced by the winners featured across FIBA channels and platforms throughout the tournament.
