French international Kadiatou Sissoko has joined Al Ahly Cairo, swapping the Australian WNBL for Egyptian basketball and the Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA). The wing spent her previous season with Canberra Capitals, where she featured in 20 WNBL games and averaged 10.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
Sissoko turned professional in 2017 with Basket Landes after her time at Pôle France. The following summer she moved to the United States for university basketball, playing successively for Syracuse, Minnesota and USC. In 2023, the Phoenix Mercury selected her 29th overall in the WNBA Draft.
Her return to Europe took her first to Ormanspor in Turkey, where she played her last match on 29 December 2024. She then signed with Villeneuve-d'Ascq to finish the 2024-2025 campaign, before heading to Australia. France head coach Jean-Aimé Toupane had previously called her up to the senior national team for two assessment games.
Al Ahly, a multisport club, won the Women's Basketball League Africa in 2025. Egypt now joins France, the United States, Turkey and Australia on Sissoko's list of stops.
