The New Orleans Pelicans waived 26-year-old Cameroonian centre Christian Koloko, a 7-footer who previously featured for the Atlanta Hawks earlier this season. The move ends his second NBA stint of the campaign with another franchise.

Koloko was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the second round of the 2022 NBA Draft, going 33rd overall. After his time at the University of Arizona, where he earned All-Pac-12 Most Improved Player of the Year and Pac-12 All-Tournament Team honours, he launched his professional career.

Across his career the big man has suited up for the LA Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Austin Spurs, South Bay Lakers, College Park Skyhawks, Raptors 905 Mississauga and South Bay Lakers. He was nominated for the Jersey Mike's Naismith High School Defensive Player of the Year Semifinalist award in 2022 during his college years.

Koloko, now in his fifth professional season, was called up to the Cameroonian senior national team this year. He will look for his next opportunity after clearing waivers in New Orleans.
