Nigeria-born Los Angeles Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike has added a record fifth Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award to her collection in what is set to be her final WNBA campaign. The 36-year-old polled 38 votes, well clear of New York Liberty's Rebecca Allen, who received seven.
Ogwumike announced in August that the 2026 season would be her last. The latest honour completes a back-to-back run of awards for her, having also won in 2025, and follows three straight between 2019 and 2021.
Her career résumé includes 11 WNBA All-Star selections, eight All-WNBA nods, seven All-Defensive team appearances, a Rookie of the Year award, an MVP honour, one WNBA championship and a place on the W25 list recognising the league's greatest players.
Since 2016, Ogwumike has also served as president of the Women's National Basketball Players Association. The Sparks honoured her by naming a section of their new practice facility after her, and although the team could not deliver a title in her farewell year, the latest award offers a fitting send-off for one of the league's most decorated figures.
