Former NBA guard Nick Young criticised Miami Heat president Pat Riley over the club’s roster construction, arguing that the organisation has not surrounded Giannis Antetokounmpo with sufficient talent.
Young identified the absence of a dependable starting point guard as Miami’s principal weakness. He questioned the decision to use players he believes are better suited to supporting roles and specifically challenged the expectation placed on Davion Mitchell.
“I think that’s Pat Riley’s fault. He got this on the prize bad b**ch mentality. You’re trying to turn liquor store players into superstar players,” Young said.
“No disrespect to Mitchell, but he’s a good backup guard. I don’t think he’s a starting point guard for the Miami Heat … You need that guard. You need to get him [Giannis] some help.”
