Jonathan Kuminga will not play in Monday's preseason game against the Knicks because of general soreness, according to Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network. The team is treating the absence as precautionary rather than a sign of a deeper issue."We're just being overly cautious with bumps and bruises," head coach Chris Finch said when asked about Kuminga's status for the exhibition.

The forward is expected to be evaluated in the coming days, with a return possible as soon as the team's next preseason meeting on Wednesday. Finch indicated there is a decent chance Kuminga will be available for that game against the Pistons.

Kuminga's absence comes early in the preseason schedule, giving Minnesota room to ease him back without rushing the recovery process.
