The Atlanta Dream could regain their leading scorer at a crucial stage of their WNBA playoff run. Allisha Gray has been listed as questionable for Game 3 on Thursday at the Barclays Center, with the Dream holding a 2-0 lead over the New York Liberty in the best-of-five semifinal.
Gray, a left shooting guard, injured a finger on her left hand in the first quarter of Game 1 and sat out the second match. She watched from the bench as her teammates clinched a 101-98 overtime victory, a result sealed amid confusion between the officials and the Liberty players on the final possession.
No team in WNBA history has come back from 2-0 down in a best-of-five playoff series, giving Atlanta a strong cushion heading into New York. Even without their top scorer, the Dream found answers in Game 2 through Jordin Canada and Angel Reese's defensive intensity. "Nobody is going to try to be Lish because there's only one Lish," head coach Karl Smesko said before the second game. "She's one of the best players in the league. She's an exceptional scorer and a great defender."
DeWanna Bonner, who joined the team before the playoffs, has added further depth. Atlanta now face a decision on whether to bring Gray back immediately or give her more rest, knowing another win in New York would send them straight to the WNBA Finals.
