LeBron James and Joel Embiid are expected to suit up and play extended minutes when the Philadelphia 76ers take on the Boston Celtics on Friday in NBA preseason action. The matchup follows a midweek preseason loss to the Brooklyn Nets and gives Sixers head coach Nick Nurse a chance to build chemistry between his two centrepieces after a brief shared appearance against Brooklyn.
Boston are taking a cautious approach with Jayson Tatum and Paul George, both of whom sat out the Celtics' preseason opener as they continue to recover from off-season injuries. The Sixers' focus on the floor is clear, with the projected starting five of Tyrese Maxey at point guard, V.J. Edgecombe at shooting guard, Paul George at small forward, LeBron James at power forward and Joel Embiid at centre.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM, with coverage on NBA TV and NBC Sports Philadelphia. Philadelphia use the final preseason tune-ups in preparation for a high-profile regular-season opener against the reigning NBA champion New York Knicks.
