Basketball Africa League (BAL) and dia partners don open one basketball court wey dem renovate for Gaston Berger University (UGB) for Saint-Louis, Senegal. The work na part of one programme wey dey aim to fix community sports facilities and give young pipo beta condition to play.
BAL president Amadou Gallo Fall talk say dem choose Saint-Louis for di early stage of di project because of di historical importance and di role wey e dey play for Senegal economic and energy transition. "E make sense say dis inauguration start here, for Saint-Louis, one historic city, one world heritage site, but also one city wey dey for di heart of di country energy challenge," Fall talk.
He frame di renovation as one way for di country natural resources to turn to opportunity for di youth. "Di resources wey we get for our ground no suppose only dey measure for cubic metres or barrel. Dem must also allow us create opportunity, especially for these young pipo, by giving dem access to safe place to play," e talk.
BAL, wey don reach im sixth year of organising professional basketball championship for Africa, dey plan to expand similar partnership across di sub-region. Fall commend UGB officials for dia work with limited resources and predict say future champions go comot from di university.
