Senegalese basketball player Amina Seck don free afta several weeks for United States detention. Dem arrest am on 7 August for Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, and she don speak publicly for the first time about the whole wahala.
"I just wan say Alhamdoulilah, thank God for everytin wey e do during this trial. I wan thank all the people wey help me and pray for me. E hard, but as dem dey say, everytin wey happen na good one," Seck tok. She wan return to her studies now and go do one surgery wey dem don plan. "I ready to go back to university, collect my master's and do my surgery," she tell WDRB.
According to WDRB, Seck say she spend about one week for isolation afta she refuse to comot knee brace wey she need because of injury. "Alone inside that room, nobody else — just me and myself, dey stare the wall. No books, notin," she recount. During her detention, she also suffer torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus injury, and miss one surgery wey dem don plan. Her lawyer Sadiqa Reynolds say Seck "no receive regular care for detention."
US authorities say one immigration judge give final removal order against Seck for September 2025 afta she miss one immigration hearing. She don enter United States legally for 2019 and remain afta her visa expire. Her immigration file still dey open. Seck wan focus for her studies, her health and return to basketball now.
