Spintex Knights are stranded in Tripoli, Libya, after qualifying for the Basketball Africa League Elite 16 stage. The Ghanaian club cannot bring its players and coaching staff home because its travel costs remain unpaid.
The Accra Basketball League champions completed Group B of the Division West preliminary qualifiers with victories over Nabaya Sofas, NPA Pythons and Energie BC. Their 96–90 win against Nabaya Sofas was closely contested, while they defeated NPA Pythons 88–66.
Club co-founder Dr. Eric Opoku-Antwi has launched an urgent appeal for financial support to settle the outstanding costs and enable the squad to return to Accra. The club’s qualification marks its second consecutive appearance at the Elite 16, after becoming the first Ghanaian club to reach the stage in 2024.
Spintex Knights are scheduled to compete in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 10 to 15 November 2026. Their immediate priority is to resolve the travel debt, return home and prepare for the next phase.
