Ghana’s Spintex Knights qualified for the Basketball Africa League Elite 16 after winning all three matches in the Division West group phase. Their place in the last 16 was confirmed by a 92-71 victory over Benin’s Energie Basketball Club in Tripoli on Friday, October 23. The result secured a top-four finish in Group B.

Benjamin Ashitei and Tyreek Malik Temple each scored 22 points, with Ashitei collecting 11 rebounds and Temple adding 14. James Amotoe contributed 16 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds in 29:39 minutes, finishing one rebound short of a triple-double. Amotoe ended the group stage as the competition’s leading player in assists, averaging 11.5 across three games.

The Elite 16 will be staged in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from November 10 to 15. Spintex reached the same stage last year to become the first Ghanaian team to do so, but did not progress beyond it. Their perfect group-stage run has now set up a second attempt in the continental competition.
