Spintex Knights head coach Selorm Thomas says his Ghanaian side can improve when they return to the Basketball Africa League’s Elite 16 after finishing the preliminary phase unbeaten.
The Knights topped Group B in the Division West phase with three wins from three matches. Their latest was a 92-71 victory over Benin’s Energie Basketball Club, after earlier wins against Liberia’s NPA Pythons 88-66 and Guinea’s Nabaya Sofas 96-90.
Thomas believes the team can become more effective during the next phase, which takes place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 10-15 November. He plans to work on ball handling and avoid repeating the mistakes made in the preliminary round.
“The main asset of the team is that these guys are selfless, as evidenced by the 27 assists in today’s game,” Thomas said. The side have now reached the Elite 16 for the second consecutive year.
