Makhtar Gueye and Papa Ndiaye, both Senegalese internationals, will represent African clubs in the 2027 Basketball Africa League qualifiers. Gueye has signed with the Nam Blazers, the Ugandan champions, while Ndiaye has joined Ghanaian side Spintex Knights, three-time winners of their domestic league.
Gueye previously played for ASC Ville de Dakar and featured in the BAL 2025. He will now turn out for the Nam Blazers in Group D, which includes Urunani, Ushundzi Basket, COSPN and the Sudan Patriots. The group stage matches are scheduled for Uganda from 21 to 25 October 2026.
After his stint at AS Douanes, Ndiaye arrived at his new club in Ghana last Sunday and began preparing with the squad, according to Basket 221. The Spintex Knights will compete in Group B against Energy BBC of Benin, AS Douanes of Burkina Faso, the NPA Pythons of Liberia and the Red Flames of Sierra Leone. Both players will look to help their teams secure spots at the BAL 2027.
